GOODYEAR, Arizona – Cody Reed jokes that he looks like an offensive lineman with a brace around his left knee, but he doesn’t care how he looks because he feels healthy.
Reed was sidelined for most of last season after he sprained a ligament in his left knee. He was a few pitches into his outing in the second game of a doubleheader against the Pittsburgh Pirates on May 27 when he felt pain in his knee.
Pitching with adrenaline helped mask some of the pain, but he didn’t want to leave the game with an injury because doubleheaders already tax the bullpen.
