SAN DIEGO – The Cincinnati Reds couldn’t hold on to a two-run lead, giving up four runs after the fifth to fall 4-2 to the San Diego Padres on Wednesday at Petco Park. Here are the main storylines.

Michael Lorenzen didn’t have it. Lorenzen was brought in to pitch the seventh, and could usually be counted on for two innings of lockdown relief. But it was apparent immediately that Wednesday was not going to be the right-hander’s day.
