Cincinnati Reds general manager Nick Krall was named the new head of the baseball operations department Monday.
Krall will keep his same GM title, but he will report to owner Bob Castellini and assume the duties from Dick Williams, the former president of baseball operations who resigned on Oct. 7 for personal reasons.
One of the baseball trends that grew throughout the last decade was hiring a president of baseball operations above the general manager. Following Williams' resignation, the Reds are eliminating the president of baseball operations role.
"We are excited for Nick to assume the lead over our baseball operations,” Reds owner Bob Castellini said in a statement.
