Before the start of the 2019 season, Luis Castillo set a few goals for his third year in the Major Leagues. He achieved one of those goals Sunday when he was announced as a National League All-Star.

Reds manager David Bell called a team meeting before Sunday’s game and delivered the news to the room that Castillo was picked to play in his first All-Star Game. Castillo didn’t know the reason for the meeting beforehand, telling his teammates and coaches afterward that he was grateful for the honor.
