Cincinnati Reds mixing things up in batting practice to ignite slumping offense

As the Cincinnati Reds try to ignite their slumping offense, they’ve tried to recreate different things in pre-game batting practice sessions.

The Reds have mixed in breaking ball machines with a live arm when they take on-field BP before games. They’ll use velocity machines in the cages. They’re looking at different things in the scouting reports.

If the Reds can’t find a way to turnaround their offense in the next three weeks, they will miss the playoffs for the seventh consecutive season. The Reds have averaged 3.94 runs per game, tied for the third-lowest in the Majors.
