The finalists for the 2021 Rawlings Gold Glove Awards were released just prior to the holiday weekend. MLB.com’s David Adler broke them down by category, which was great and kind and convenient for those parties interested in reading about those select few who could go home with some hardware to commemorate their defensive work during the 2021 MLB season.
Of course, if you’re a Cincinnati Reds fan, you may just not have any interest there at all. That’s because there were zero Reds named even as finalists this time around.
Defense was one of the many things the club was apparently willing to punt last season - bullpen being the most obvious.
