Luis Castillo’s start Wednesday is big for him and for the Reds.

Castillo, the 25-year-old right-hander, was the surest bet of any of the five starters coming into the season. He’s in a race for the most unreliable so far.

Castillo did not record an out after the first inning of his last start. He allowed five runs on six hits. He walked two and did not strikeout a batter.

Castillo has only sporadically looked like the guy who put up a 3.
