ATLANTA – Cincinnati Reds right-hander Michael Lorenzen went into Wednesday’s game as a hitter. He took batting practice with the hitters. He stayed in the dugout with the hitters.

“I hit in the cage before the game and throughout the game and don’t worry about pitching at all,” he said. “I’m ready to hit today.”

Lorenzen has been used as pinch-hitter on a regular basis since coming off the disabled list.
