Cincinnati Reds fall to San Francisco after the Giants strike late

For the second consecutive game, Cincinnati Reds manager David Bell called on relief pitcher Lucas Sims with the game on the line.

Sims ran in from the bullpen in the seventh inning with runners on first and third base and one out. San Francisco Giants infielder Wilmer Flores drove a sacrifice fly to center field, driving in the game-deciding run for San Francisco.

San Francisco scored three runs off Cincinnati’s relief pitchers to beat the Reds at Oracle Park, 7-6.

Both managers played the matchups down the stretch.

In a tie game in the sixth inning, Reds left-handed relief pitcher Sean Doolittle was on the mound with a runner on first base.
