Billy Hamilton sat at his locker following Friday night’s 3-1 loss to the Dodgers, his entire left hand covered in a bandage holding an ice bag in place for his sore left thumb – and that wasn’t even the hand that had just been hit by a pitch.
It’s been that kind of stretch for the Reds recently, one hit after the other – well, figurative hits, not literal hits for the offense. The Reds managed just five of those against the Dodgers on Friday, with Hamilton picking up the fifth, a ground-rule double off of Kenley Jansen on the second pitch after getting hit on the back of his right hand.
