The Cincinnati Reds traded Johnny Cueto for three left-handed pitching prospects. The thought was that Brandon Finnegan was definitely an MLB pitcher, but maybe not a starter. John Lamb was the greatest question mark in the deal as there was no guarantee that he would pan out.
Then there was Cody Reed. He was supposedly an ace in training. He just needed some development. 2016 was supposed to be the year that panned out, but it didn’t. Now it appears he is still on the slow track.
Lamb and Finnegan both made it to Cincinnati more quickly and showed flashes of brilliance.
