PITTSBURGH – As soon as Pittsburgh Pirates pinch-hitter Colin Moran connected on an inside curveball in the sixth inning, everyone knew where it was headed.
Catcher Tucker Barnhart turned his head toward the dugout. Pitcher Lucas Sims saw the ball’s flight, then glanced toward the ground. Starting pitcher Alex Wood, who was replaced by Sims with the bases loaded, could only watch from the dugout bench.
Moran drilled a grand slam halfway up the right-field seats, the dagger in this weekend series.
