Cincinnati Reds beat Milwaukee Brewers 4-3, move to half-game back of division lead

MILWAUKEE — Cincinnati Reds rookie Andrew Abbott, who already had out-dueled Milwaukee Brewers ace Corbin Burnes, looked at his manager on the top step of the dugout with two outs in the sixth inning and waved him off.

This batter – this game – belonged to the kid who pitches like anything but a kid. And Abbott backed up the gesture by getting Owen Miller to bounced back to the mound for the final out of a six-inning, scoreless outing, stranding another runner at third, on the way to a 4-3 Reds victory.

"I don’t know if he saw it or not," Abbott said of the brief stop sign he threw up with his left hand after the second out in the sixth, on his 105th pitch.
