Cincinnati Reds beat Miami Marlins to snap six-game losing streak, resume playoff hunt

If the Cincinnati Reds hang with the big boys down the stretch and make the playoffs it’s going to be because of guys like Brandon Williamson and games like Monday night’s 5-2 victory over the Miami Marlins.

By the way, that’s not a typo. The Reds won. First time in a week. Snapped a six-game losing streak.

Let the scoreboard watching resume. To wit: The Chicago Cubs trailed late in their game against the Mets and were in danger of falling back into third place as the Reds finished off their win.

And with Luke Weaver and Graham Ashcraft starting the next two games, the Reds need to win one of those to clinch the season series against the Marlins – and the tiebreaker should it be necessary to determine a playoff spot.
