President of Baseball Operations Dick Williams left little doubt that the Cincinnati Reds will be buyers as the trade deadline looms. In an interview with C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic, Williams even uses the word “buyers” to describe the Reds. The bullpen appears to be an area of immediate need and one Williams and the front office should look to improve.
While some would advocate that the Reds should be in the market for a bat, I’m not convinced. Jon Morosi of MLB Network even tweeted earlier this season that Cincinnati would be in the market for a controllable hitter at the deadline.
