Bryan Price: Amir Garrett’s injury silence “a learning situation”

PHILADELPHIA – On Tuesday, Cincinnati Reds manager Bryan Price found out that rookie left-hander Amir Garrett was being bothered by a hip injury. As far as Price knew at the time, the injury was new.

Only when Garrett met with team medical director Dr. Timothy Kremchek in Cincinnati on Wednesday did Price learn that the issue had bothered the 24-year-old dating back to his time in the minors earlier in the month. The lefty had just kept it to himself, and the hip worsened. Thursday, Garrett was placed on the 10-day disabled list with right hip inflammation.

On Friday, Price didn’t have any ire to direct at Garrett for concealing his injury.
