Former Cincinnati Reds fan favorite Brandon Phillips tweeted Monday that he won't be joining the Lexington Legends - as of now - for upcoming games in Florence as part of the Battle of the Bourbon Trail series.
The three-time All-Star and four-time Gold Glove winner at second base made his debut for the Legends last week in front of a sold-out Whitaker Bank Ballpark against the Florence Freedom, and the Legends announced via Twitter that Phillips would remain with the team for the rest of the Battle of the Bourbon Trail - a series involving the Legends, the Freedom, the Florence Y'alls and the Lexington Las Leyendas that continues through Sept.
