Brandon Finnegan leaves game with apparent injury

As the ink was still drying on Brandon Finnegan being activated from the 60-day DL prior to Monday’s start against the St. Louis Cardinals, the Cincinnati Reds lefty was already dealing with another injury issue. On his 58th pitch of the game, Finnegan appeared to wince in pain, and left the game immediately after being looked at by team trainers.

There was no initial word about the nature of Finnegan’s injury, but the look on his face as he left the mound sure seemed to indicate it wasn’t something of the “minor injury” variety, especially given that he’d just worked his way back through extensive rehab after having been sidelined since mid April.
