The Reds recalled right-hander Barrett Astin from Triple-A Louisville on Sunday and optioned lefty Amir Garrett.
In six games for Cincinnati this season, Garrett went 3-2 with a 4.25 ERA. Besides one very rough start against Milwaukee, in which he allowed 10 runs in 3 1/3 innings, Garrett posted five quality starts.
In four games with the Reds earlier this season, Astin allowed two hits and no runs over four innings. He went 0-2 with a 6.39 ERA in five games (two starts) for Louisville.
