The Cincinnati Reds are slumping offensively, and they had an opening in the outfield when Nick Senzel was placed on the injured list last week.
Aristides Aquino, however, remains at the team's alternate site, Prasco Park, awaiting his next opportunity in the big leagues. The Reds called up Mark Payton on Saturday and he will earn starts in left field against right-handed pitching.
“We certainly have not given up on Aquino,” Reds manager David Bell said. “We saw what he did last year. He had one of the best months in history. We are looking for opportunities to get him here.
