Amir Garrett returning to Reds' rotation soon

SAN FRANCISCO — Amir Garrett could return to the Reds’ rotation as early as Thursday, Reds manager Bryan Price said on Sunday.

Garrett was sent to Triple-A Louisville on May 7 in order to limit some of his innings, the team has said publicly. Another trip to the minor leagues would also keep his service time under a full year for the season and postpone free agency for another year.

Garrett pitched two innings for the Bats on Friday, striking out all six batters he faced. Garrett was going to come back to the Reds in short order regardless of his performance in that scheduled short start, Price said, but it didn’t hurt that he dominated the Triple-A affiliate of the White Sox.
