CHICAGO – Manager David Bell knew it was an odd thing to say after a rough outing, but he thought lefty reliever Amir Garrett looked as well as he’s looked in his recent outings.

Garrett hit a batter and gave up two hits without recording an out in the Reds’ 8-2 loss to the Chicago Cubs on Monday. Garrett was throwing 96-mph fastballs and his slider looked like it had more action to it.
