LOS ANGELES – The Cincinnati Reds have already been playing with a short bench in recent weeks, and Saturday against the Los Angeles Dodgers it was essentially down to two players. Left fielder Adam Duvall was out sick for the second straight day, and center fielder Billy Hamilton was banged up and in need of a day off.
Both felt much better Sunday, and Reds manager Bryan Price inserted each back into the lineup.
“Hopefully both these guys are much closer to full-speed today than they would have been yesterday,” Price said.
Duvall’s illness has been the more persistent issue for the Reds.
