For the first time since 2019, Major League Baseball will have a normal six-week spring training.

The regular season, however, will see some changes. There will be several new rules introduced during the 2023 season, primarily designed to speed up the pace of the game and create more action on the field.

Here’s a refresher on the rule changes:

What is a pitch clock?

This is the rule change that should be the most noticeable. The average minor league game was shortened by more than 20 minutes last year after the pitch clock was implemented.
