Two streaks of note ended tonight. The Reds snapped their 13-game losing streak. Joey Votto saw his 48-game on-base streak end, tied with Pete Rose for the Reds all-time record.
Brandon Finnegan made it through 6 innings for the first time this year. He threw just 88 pitches limiting the Pirates to 3 hits and 2 walks. He had 6 strikeouts. “Finnegan had great mastery of the change-up here tonight,” said Jeff Brantley. “That bodes awfully well for his future as a *starting* pitcher.”
The Reds struck for 2 runs in the first inning off A.
