Young receivers show up for Bengals

A star is born?

With the clock ticking down to the last minute of the first half in Friday night’s pre-season opener at Paul Brown Stadium, rookie wide receiver Tyler Boyd made a diving straight-over-his head catch from backup quarterback AJ McCarron for a 40-yard play that up the Bengals’ lone touchdown as the Vikings took 10-7 half-time lead.

Boyd, a second-round draft pick, set up McCarron’s tying three-yard touchdown pass to another rookie wide receiver, Alex Erickson, with 47 seconds left.

But that was enough time for backup Vikings quarterback Shaun Hill to go after the Bengals’ backup secondary just like starter Teddy Bridgewater did.
