Post-practice quick hitters: versatility on display

Middle linebacker Rey Maualuga and wide receiver Marvin Jones, both nursing hamstring issues, returned to work Monday when the Bengals practiced on the Paul Brown Stadium practice fields.

As they prepare to welcome the Giants for 3 p.m. practices Tuesday and Wednesday, Bengals defensive coordinator Paul Guenther showed off some versatility when he put in veteran linebacker Chris Carter with the first pass-rushing group. With left end Carlos Dunlap appearing to get a veteran’s day off and right end Michael Johnson out with what appears to be an MCL knee sprain, Guenther had a lot of leeway when he lined up Carter as a rush end.
