No preseason means 'more scrimmage situations' for Cincinnati Bengals

Cincinnati Bengals coach Zac Taylor declared over the offseason he wanted to have preseason games. Since then, preseason contests have fallen by the wayside, but the Bengals coach says he’s detected some advantages without exhibition football on the calendar.

“There's a lot of advantages that we're finding right now. Just the way we're going to be able to structure practices and create more scrimmage situations. You consider in a preseason game maybe Joe Burrow maybe wouldn't have gotten to play with a couple of guys that you're holding out or don't give many reps to,” Taylor said. “Whereas you can protect those guys in a scrimmage that you control a little bit better.
