If Jessie Bates is to become one of, if not the NFL’s highest-paid safety, he has Jamal Adams to thank for speeding things up.
On Tuesday, Adams and the Seattle Seahawks agreed to a four-year, $72-million extension that includes an absurd $38 million guaranteed, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The $17.5 million annual value is a 14.7% raise over what the Denver Broncos gave safety Justin Simmons earlier this year, according to Over The Cap. Simmons signed a four-Year, $61 million extension.
For Bates and the Bengals, I would guess the floor for his next contract would be Simmons’ deal, and the ceiling would be right around what Adams got, if not slightly more.
