CINCINNATI -- Cincinnati Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert was absent from his second straight practice on Thursday with a back/ankle injury.
One source told ESPN’s Bob Holtzman that Eifert was considered day-to-day with the new back injury, and Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said on Sirius XM NFL Radio Thursday morning that Eifert still had the potential to play Sunday despite a sore back.
But Eifert’s absence from Thursday’s practice effectively ends any chance he would make his season debut against the Cowboys.
Eifert, who had offseason surgery on his left ankle, had been expected him to return this week but suffered the back injury at practice.
