Bengals extend coach Lewis' contract through 2016 (The Associated Press)

CINCINNATI (AP) -- The Cincinnati Bengals have extended coach Marvin Lewis' contract by one year through the 2016 season.

Lewis has coached the Bengals for 12 seasons, the second-longest current tenure with one team of any coach, behind Bill Belichick in New England. He is Cincinnati's winningest coach by far with 100 victories; he has lost 96 games and tied two.

Lewis has led the Bengals to the playoffs in each of the last four seasons, but they've been eliminated in the first round each time. His six games coached without a playoff win ranks second in NFL history.
