Bengals cut Brandon Thompson, waive two rookies

The NFL changed its roster cut down date for 2017, moving it to Sept. 2, after the fourth preseason game. But, teams are already starting to trim their 90-man rosters. The Cincinnati Bengals made three moves on Sunday, headlined by the termination of the contract of defensive tackle Brandon Thompson.

Thompson, 27, was a third-round pick out of Syracuse in 2012. He is now an unrestricted free agent and can sign immediately with another team.

He played in three games as a rookie and then appeared in 27 games (seven starts) in 2013 and 2014. He played in nine games in 2015 and missed all of last year after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament in the season finale against Baltimore on Jan.
