Andrew Hawkins: 'Genuine' friendship of ex-Bengals teammates a testament to Andy Dalton

Andy Dalton, the long-time Cincinnati Bengals starting quarterback who has taken over as the Dallas Cowboys starter since Dak Prescott suffered a season-ending leg injury, responded to congratulatory messages from former Bengals teammates by expressing concern for Prescott, according to a story Monday by ESPN's Todd Archer.

Dallas quarterback Andy Dalton, left, scrambles out of the pocket against New York Giants defensive end B.J. Hill (95) in the fourth quarter at AT&T Stadium on Oct. 11 in Arlington.

Former Bengals receiver Andrew Hawkins, who told Archer about Dalton's reaction, also said he and former Cincinnati teammates remain close and trust each other because of the type of leader Dalton is.

From Archer:

"We were kids when we came into the league," Hawkins said.
