'You have to plan for the worst:' UC prepares for possibility football season is altered

While John Cunningham's daily to-do list has more pertinent matters at hand, the University of Cincinnati director of athletics admits he has spent time playing out a potentially devastating future scenario.

What if the new coronavirus outbreak delays, alters or cancels the 2020 college football season?

"It's something that we're thinking about," Cunningham said. "I think you have to plan for the worst and then go back from there. It's certainly something we're already talking about and forecasting a little bit."

UC football had conducted a week of spring practice before the spread of coronavirus, a severe acute respiratory syndrome that causes the disease COVID-19, halted sports around the country and led to mandated stay-at-home orders in many states.
