CORVALLIS, Ore. — AJ Bumpass will never forget his first NCAA baseball tournament game.
Bumpass went 5 for 5, including a go-ahead triple in the ninth inning, as the University of Cincinnati Bearcats rallied to defeat defending national champion Oregon State 7-6 on Friday for its first NCAA tournament win in 48 years.
“He’s hotter than a pistol right now and we knew that,” said Oregon State coach Pat Bailey.
