UC's Fickell has plan for coaches, coordinators if someone on staff contracts COVID-19

In the event University of Cincinnati football coach Luke Fickell contracts the coronavirus and is unable to be on the sideline at some point this season, the Bearcats have a contingency plan.

"We're going to bring my wife in," Fickell joked Wednesday. "She said she could do this."

Fickell and his wife, Amy, have six children. Fickell said last month that he could easily test positive for COVID-19 given that all of his kids are in school, participate in sports and live at home with him.

Fickell said if he does contract the virus and is forced into quarantine, defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman will assume the duties of head coach.
