UC women set to face UConn machine

The University of Cincinnati women’s basketball team was facing one of the top dynasties in sports history Tuesday night, with the No. 1-ranked Connecticut Huskies visiting Fifth Third Arena.

UConn (22-0, 10-0 American Athletic Conference entering the night) came in with a record 97-game winning streak, and has won the last four NCAA championships. UConn has won 11 national titles overall, tied with the UCLA men for most in college basketball.

UConn is led by 62-year-old Naismith Hall of Fame coach Geno Auriemma. Auriemma entered the night with a 977-134 career record (.870 winning percentage) in 32 UConn seasons, and the Huskies this season are winning by an average of 32 points per game.
