UC Notebook: Ridder playing 'with a different type of swag'; McClelland has 2nd torn ACL

The Davey O'Brien Foundation on Wednesday announced University of Cincinnati quarterback Desmond Ridder was selected the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback of the Week.

It was the latest of a laundry list of accolades for the 6-foot-4, 215-pound junior following his career night in the No. 7 Bearcats' 42-13 win last Saturday at then-No. 16 Southern Methodist University.

Ridder also was named the Walter Camp Offensive Player of the Week and the American Athletic Conference (AAC) Offensive Player of the Week after running for a career-high 179 yards and three touchdowns and completing 13 of 21 passes for 126 yards and a 7-yard touchdown pass to tight end Josh Whyle.
