UC-Navy: Instant analysis as Bearcats cough up 569 rushing

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - A second consecutive miraculous finish failed to materialize for the University of Cincinnati here Saturday, as the Bearcats could not overcome one of the worst defensive showings in school history.

UC allowed a program-worst 569 yards rushing and lost 42-32 to Navy, on a sunny afternoon at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. The Midshipmen ran their patented triple-option to perfection, led by quarterback Zach Abey with 128 yards rushing and two touchdowns.

The UC record for most rushing yards allowed had been 539, by Northern Illinois in 1989. That was the final game of the inaugural Tim Murphy coaching season, a 56-3 Bearcats loss at Nippert Stadium.
