ANNAPOLIS, Maryland – For a New Year's Eve bowl, Monday afternoon's festivities at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial proved to be a worthy watch, be it soaked among the 32,832 that watched in person or dry as a bone on the couch in front of ESPN.
Coach Luke Fickell's Bearcats rang out 2018 with a 35-31 nail-biting victory over a team from the so-called "Power Five", Virginia Tech of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The win also perhaps saved face for the American Athletic Conference who was 1-for-5 in bowls until James Wiggins sealed UC's triumph with an interception with 33 seconds on the ticker.
