The 2015 regular season in the NFL kicked off this week with just 12 former Cincinnati Bearcats appearing on 53-man rosters, down from greater than 20 when the preseason began. You can truly see the effects a low number of draft picks are having of UC’s representation in the pros. Cincinnati hasn’t had a player selected in any of the seven-round event since 2013, when tight end Travis Kelce was taken 63rd overall by the Kansas City Chiefs.
Before that the Bearcats were averaging about two selections per year, players such as Derek Wolfe and John Hughes who are currently on the Broncos and Browns respectively.
