EAST HARTFORD, Conn - It was actually a close game for a while. In the end, the University of Cincinnati Bearcats overwhelmed Connecticut 49-7 in American Athletic Conference football action here at Rentschler Field.
UC led only 14-7 late in the second quarter. A 15-yard TD pass from quarterback Demond Ridder to wideout Rashad Medaris gave UC the 21-7 lead, with 23 seconds left in the second quarter. UConn never recovered.
"It's a game of momentum," UC coach Luke Fickell said. "The whole energy of the place was pretty dead, and on our sidelines it really kind of erupted.
