Bye weeks have been kind to the University of Cincinnati football team of late. The Bearcats are 4-1 in games after a bye under sixth-year head coach Luke Fickell.
Fickell's Cincinnati squad will look to keep that trend going Saturday at Southern Methodist University (noon on ESPN).
"Bye weeks are always unique," said Fickell, who on Wednesday was one of 20 coaches named to the midseason watch list for the 2022 Dodd Trophy, presented annually to the nation's top college football coach. "I always tell them, it's not like you can get healthy over a bye week, but you do have a chance to get a little bit healthy in some different ways.
