The SMU Mustangs' clock management at the end of their first half against the University of Cincinnati Bearcats in Dallas was the subject of considerable criticism on social media.
The Mustangs' final drive of the half had led them into the Red Zone, and they had two timeouts left with 24 seconds remaining with a first down at the UC 9.
Officials stopped the clock briefly with :24 left to move the chains. SMU didn't immediately use a timeout or spike the ball, instead letting the clock run down to 5 seconds remaining before calling timeout and kicking a 26-yard field goal to cut the Bearcats' lead to 14-10.
