After bear-crawling through winter snow drills, running to exhaustion and grinding through hours in the weight room, the Cincinnati Bearcats are set for their first official preseason football practice under new coach Luke Fickell.
Fickell will send the Bearcats onto the Nippert Stadium turf Wednesday at 2:30 p.m., as UC seeks to erase memories of a 4-8 season that led to the exit of former coach Tommy Tuberville. The temperature is forecast to be near 90 when UC takes the field, and the players are eager to go.
"Last year we didn't have the season that we wanted, but we've got the opportunity to change that this year," senior running back Mike Boone said.
