All fall sports student-athletes at the University of Cincinnati, including football players, will be granted a lost year of eligibility from 2020 no matter if they play this fall or choose to opt out.
The NCAA Division I Board of Directors voted Friday to give fall sports student-athletes both an additional year of eligibility and an additional year in which to complete it through a blanket waiver due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
So, seniors who want to come back next fall won't count toward scholarship limits in 2021-22. A similar blanket waiver was granted to student-athletes who lost seasons in the spring.
