Memphis Tigers, scheduled to play Cincinnati Bearcats in October, halt football activities

The Memphis Tigers announced Friday they've paused football activities because of positive COVID-19 tests, and Commercialappeal.com's Evan Barnes and Mark Giannotto report that the uptick in positive tests has been attributed to a party bus that members of the team were on after a season-opening win against Arkansas State.

A Liberty Bowl staff member closes off rows of seating in preparation for the Memphis Tigers' season-opening football game, Friday, Sept. 4, 2020, in Memphis, TN.

The Cincinnati Bearcats are scheduled to face the Tigers on Oct. 31 at Nippert Stadium.

The Tigers have at least 20 people within the program who have tested positive for COVID-19 and are in a 10-day isolation period, according to the source.

The source also said that Memphis has "at least another 20" people in quarantine due to contract tracing.
