Ole Miss head basketball coach Andy Kennedy announced Sunday that his resignation is now effective immediately, six days after the school announced that Kennedy would step down at the conclusion of this season.
This season, Ole Miss is 11-16 overall, 4-10 in the Southeastern Conference.
Kennedy, the winningest head coach in program history and the longest tenured basketball coach in the SEC, was a UC assistant coach from 2001 to 2005 who took over as head coach of the Bearcats when Bob Huggins resigned.
Kennedy took the Ole Miss job after leading the Bearcats to a 21-13 record in 2005-06.
