The University of Cincinnati fell short of its third straight 100-point basketball game, but another monstrous blowout will have to do.
The No. 12-ranked Bearcats routed Coppin State 97-54 Thursday night at Northern Kentucky University. UC (3-0) had the ball with under 20 seconds left and could have tried a 3-pointer, but coach Mick Cronin had Bearcats walk-on player John Koz dribble out the clock. Coppin State fell to 0-3.
UC still has never had three consecutive 100-point games, not during the Oscar Robertson era, not during the Kenyon Martin era and not in the current Cronin coaching era.
