In his first Crosstown Shootout, Chris Vogt watched the other team’s center leave the court to a standing ovation.
It was Dec. 7, 2019, and Vogt was playing in his first game against Xavier at the University of Cincinnati. It wasn’t just the first rivalry game for the Bearcats center –– Vogt matched up against a physical, all-conference big man for the first time after transferring to UC from Northern Kentucky before the 2019 season.
Xavier senior center Tyrique Jones had 10 points and seven rebounds in the second half, the Musketeers won 73-66 and the Cintas Center stood up for Jones when he left the game.
